Here is a history behind Indian trunk and Indian art from which I inspired and make my workshop model .

It was custom in India for women to carry money , clothes , linen and jewelry with her in the dowry during the marriage. All these things were packed in chest , traditionally made of wood and typically decorated with Indian art and craft.

The basic form of most of these chests is large and rectangular. Usually they are flat on top (though some are curved), so that they could be used as a bench or small table; sometimes they were built with drawers below the main compartment and, often, there was a smaller compartment inside the lid for holding valuables .These are some images of Indian chest or trunk.

When I saw the old trunk in the charity shop , I remembered how those people in India used the trunk as a table also and also I had in mind Flat Surface that I could use as a coffee table top and the other thing was the inside storage which I would be able to modify in any way to make coffee table’s Organized storage.

These are some images where Indian Rajasthan art used on the different surface some were on fabric , some were on earth pot , some were on the wood.

As I was inspired by the Indian trunk and making this coffee table , I wanted to maintain the Indian look for which I decided that I would give this coffee table Indian look even from the outside for which I have chosen this Indian art which is very famous in Rajasthan and really these bright colors and unique patch work give aesthetic look to my coffee table.

You could do the exercise we did in yesterdays's session on the trunk - an image of a trunk that is personal to you, dictionary definition, and academic note.
