This workshop is a new experience for me and I will also learn a lot from it for which I am very excited. This week the workshop was booked for us for two days, Thursday and Friday , which is located in Eldon building.

First of all our task was to come to the workshop with any one of the furniture that belong to Body-sized. I bought an old trunk from the British Heart Foundation for fifteen pounds because I always wanted a perfect organized coffee table , In which everything I need should have a proper place. This image is of my trunk when I bought it.

Thursday I had no idea I just had something that is a clear image of my messy coffee table in mind and the idea that I just want to give this thing a proper place in this trunk. This is how my coffee table looks with all these mess.

I initially loosened the trunk lid and cut a rectangular section right in the middle of the trunk. The idea behind it was that I could put inside all my things like laptop, book, magazines, newspaper, snacks, etc. and make a separate compartment for all this. Now the second challenge for me was how to make my trunk look good and for that I had the idea that I would give my trunk the look of an Indian traditional trunk look.

Personally I love this trunk by it’s colors and design and I decided to make this design on my coffee table with bright colors. This exercise continued for our next week also Now I am also very excited to see how I can make this trunk look good with this Indian traditional pattern and colors.

Its really good to see the Indian trunk and its colours, patterns, surface. Have you explored the history of these? And the history of the table that you worked into? Could you compare the two different tables or trunks?
